Welcome to “The Green Room,” the podcast that bridges the gap between church production and every other aspect of a worship service. From programming directors to worship leaders, volunteers to vendors, tune in for inspiring conversations, expert advice, and a unique look into the intricate puzzle of church production. Here’s your host, Aaron Freeman.

About Aaron

My name is Aaron. I am married with a little daughter, and we live in the Atlanta area. I work at Hamilton Mill Church, located about 45 minutes north of Atlanta, which is part of the North Point ministry network of churches. I’ve been working in the church world for about nine years, with seven of those years at North Point Ministries and two years at other small churches in the area. My journey into church production began as a volunteer at Gwinnett Church, which eventually led me to my current role at Hamilton Mill Church, where I now lead the production team.

Why “The Green Room” Podcast?

Why start a podcast about production, specifically in a church context? There are already numerous resources available, including podcasts like MXU and Church Gear, along with countless TikTok accounts discussing gear and techniques. However, what I haven’t seen much of is a discussion about the “why” behind what we do in church production.

This podcast aims to focus on the deeper meaning behind our work. It’s not just about the gear, but why we hold ourselves to high standards, why we check and recheck, and why we are dedicated students of our craft. We want to explore the purpose and passion behind church production.

While we may touch on technical aspects, our primary focus is on the people who make it happen and why they do it. We want to understand why we should hold ourselves to a higher standard in production because of who we’re doing it for.

Who We’ll Be Talking To

In “The Green Room” podcast series, we will be speaking with a variety of individuals involved in church production, whether they are volunteers, contractors, or staff members on the programming or production teams. We want to hear from everyone who contributes to the Sunday morning service, from adult services to student environments. It’s not limited to a specific church but encompasses the broader church community.

Please note that initially, we’ll feature many individuals from the North Point Ministries network of churches because they are the people I know and have worked with for several years. However, this is not a North Point podcast, and it’s not sponsored by any organization. It’s about the broader “big C church,” and we aim to talk to anyone and everyone involved in church production.

Podcast Style

“The Green Room” podcast is not a formulaic show. We won’t be following a set list of questions. Instead, each episode will be a conversation with our guests. While I will know the background and direction the conversation might take, we want it to feel like you’re in the green room, having a casual chat with a friend or someone new to the team. Some episodes may be over an hour long, while others may be shorter—it all depends on the flow of the conversation.

I named it “The Green Room” because I want it to capture that feeling of being in the green room on a Sunday morning, where you’re having a genuine, relaxed conversation with fellow team members.

So, welcome to “The Green Room” podcast. I’m excited to embark on this journey, and I hope you’ll join me for insightful conversations about church production and the heart behind it.
